A winter day in 2013, Dag H. Gundersen was eating rice porridge with his granddaughter. The little girl loved cinnamon, but was afraid to add it to her porridge because of a badly working pouring mechanism. She always ended up getting too much cinnamon, and only in the wrong places.
2014–2018
From idea to a real product
Dag presented his granddaughter’s request to his colleagues at Fimtech, a Norwegian engineering company based in Tønsberg that manufactured high-speed production machines from 2001 to 2025. The company was established by a few former SABA-Mölnlycke colleagues, each with more than four decades of experience in design, manufacturing and installation of custom web converting machines for disposable consumer care products, pharmaceutical products and products for the food industry.
Fimtech had for a long time thought about making a product of their own, but was holding out for the right idea. And here it was, served up on a silver platter, so to speak. But the work was far from done. The following years were filled with pondering, product development and prototype testing. All in the quest for the elusive perfect sprinkle.
The dosing top itself: a membrane, a spring plate and a snap-closure.
2019–2023
The hard work paid off
The result was Push&Dose. Dag and his colleagues took the finished product to trade fairs, and everyone who tested it had the same response: «WOW!». In 2019, Push&Dose was awarded a ScanStar. The jury called it «a functional and innovative solution» and highlighted how the product replaces glass jars and lowers transportation and production costs.
Push&Dose is now a patented product and a company of its own. HDG in Germany became our first partner and offers Push&Dose integrated into their filling machines. Their very first RB200 was placed at Fimtech in 2021, enabling us to further develop the product and help customers with innovative and sustainable packaging. Pakona Engineers came on board in 2023, integrating Push&Dose into their family of HFFS machines.
The opened top: a membrane with holes tuned to the product.
Today
The proof is on the porridge
And yes, Dag’s granddaughter is enjoying her rice porridge, with sugar and cinnamon from a Push&Dose pouch.
